Happy Stories
Abandoned Pet Day was celebrated on August 17th. To encourage adoption, we asked some customers to share the stories of their adopted pets with us.
BENNY
"Hi, this is Benny!
Two years ago, we fell in love with his photos published by the Java Association and went to get him. He was already two years old, an adult with a childish appearance, but super calm and well-behaved. He's the friendliest and most loving dog in the world; he likes to greet everyone on the street and loves to play with his toys...and he has many! He loves cuddles and petting, preferably while sleeping next to us. He loves going to the beach, even though he never stays on the towel we put in the shade and always runs away from the waves! His favorite walks are in the pine forest near our house, where he can sniff and run freely.
It gave us a 180º turn in life, but we wouldn't trade it for anything!"

TEMPI
"This is the story of Tempi, now 17 years old.
It took her more than two months to be adopted in Valencia, Spain. She was emaciated and afraid of everything that wasn't a dog. She was taken in by a French association that worked in that area. She never went to a kennel because she was too traumatized. Thanks to the dogs in the house, especially a "3-legged" one, she began to realize there were good people. I lived in Paris and Googled "adopt dog in Paris," and this beauty appeared, whom no one wanted because she had some sharpei blood. After three months, Tempi arrived by plane to Paris. We spent four hours walking around that beautiful city every day. She charmed everyone. And now, in Portugal, everyone adores her. She's 17 years old, a traveling pharmacy, but here she is with this sweet face. She lives with Violeta and Anuk, two other abandoned sharpei crossbreeds adopted here in Portugal. I love her!!"

BLUE
" Hello 👋
I adopted my dog Blue in June this year"

HERCULES
"Good morning, I would like to share with you the story of Hercules, in fact Hercules was not adopted in August, but in July, I would still like to share his story in order to promote the adoption of senior animals.
Over a decade of walks and lots of affection at the Fonte do Lobo Canine Association, my bond with Hércules, a 13-year-old dog, has grown ever deeper. Today, with a heart full of joy and a house filled with a new, peaceful energy, I can finally say: I've adopted Hércules.
Over the years, I've witnessed his sweetness, his stubbornness, his resilience, and his unwavering ability to love, despite a life spent in a shelter. Every walk was a reminder of how much this special companion deserved a home. And now, that wish has become a reality. The decision to adopt a senior dog like Hercules came with its own set of thoughts and considerations. I know that age can bring challenges, from the need for more frequent veterinary care to a period of adjustment to a new environment. However, these potential obstacles never outweighed the immense rewards I knew would come. And the rewards were not long in coming. Hercules brought a calm and wisdom that only age can bestow. The perfect companion for quiet days, naps on the blanket, and looks of deep gratitude that melt my heart. There was none of the overwhelming euphoria of a puppy, but rather the certainty of mature and unconditional love. He's already well-mannered, calm, and, above all, a treasure who teaches me daily about the beauty of patience and unconditional love. Adopting Hercules is more than just giving him a home; it's honoring his years of waiting and giving him the dignity and comfort he always deserved. Every day with him is a celebration of life and a dog's incredible ability to fill our world with joy, regardless of their age. Our home is now more complete and my heart happier, all thanks to the silent and profound love of our Hercules.

MEL
"Our Melinha is the center of attention in the family.
She was adopted in 2020 from the Vila Verde kennel at the age of two and has been with us for five years now, we estimate she's seven. She's my first pet and couldn't have been a better choice. She loves car rides 🚙🐶 and sunbathing ☀️ Her life is all about eating well (pâtés from Newpet), sleeping (on beds purchased from Newpet), and having fun and cuddles at her disposal...
But when she first arrived, she was super scared. Over time, she lost her fear and we immediately connected. Even the few silly things she does are funny. 🤭
Thank you and have a great Sunday! I hope you enjoy Mel's story 🍯 "

MATIAS
"Matias is a very special boy, full of life and with a huge heart! 🩵
His first year of life was very hard... a victim of a hit-and-run, left behind without help... But in this world there are luminous souls, with equally huge hearts, and Matias was lucky enough to cross paths with one of them . 🍀 He was taken in by his favorite veterinarian, who cared for and cherished him during his long recovery! 💪 Matias has a big family: his "aunts," whom he left at the clinic, and those who welcomed him into his new home! That sweet "purr engine," who was so afraid to leave his box, turned out to be a super playful kitten, a true soccer player, gymnast, and comedian!!!
His favorite pastimes are playing ball, taking long baths, and sunbathing on his playground! His smile steals hearts (the love bites he gives his sister are another story... 😂 ) and nothing stops him!!! 😸 How can you resist!? 😜 "
