Artennua® is a complementary food formulated only with crushed dried leaves of the optimized version of the Artemisia annua plant. This medicinal plant is the only natural source of artemisinin, a molecule recommended by the World Health Organization for the treatment of malaria, and many studies position A. annua as an important ally in the fight against canine leishmaniasis.

The treatment of canine leishmaniasis is a challenge and the medications currently used reduce the parasite load and improve quality of life, although they rarely achieve total elimination of the parasite, and clinical relapses often occur after completion of treatment.

Treatment:

It is recommended as a complement to other treatments, administered for 2 months without interruption, a process that must always be accompanied by veterinary medical monitoring of the clinical condition and antibody levels.
In the long-term maintenance regimen, it is advisable to take breaks of at least one week between them to improve efficacy (artemisinin receptors can be saturated over a prolonged period).

Prevention:

One month of administration and three months of rest are recommended.
This cycle can be repeated up to three times in the same year.

It is advisable to always follow the guidelines and recommendations provided by the patient's attending veterinarian.
