Antioxidant nutritional supplement, highly effective in nutritional support against oxidative stress in cells of the nervous system and vision, being indicated for dogs and cats.

WeCogni is a complementary food for dogs and cats that helps control and prevent pathologies and signs associated with aging in companion animals.

WeCogni is a   palatable powder and the package comes with a measuring spoon, to facilitate the dosage of administration.

Increased care in veterinary medicine has a direct impact on the average life expectancy of dogs and cats. This increase in average life expectancy leads to a higher incidence of pathologies related to geriatrics .

The formation of oxygen free radicals occurs during the course of metabolic processes, both physiological and pathological. They are highly unstable molecules and, in general, produced in the mitochondria as a natural response to aggressive situations, such as inflammation and light radiation, but they can also result from physiological processes.

Endogenous antioxidant levels tend to decline with age. When the amount of reactive oxygen species exceeds the capacity of endogenous antioxidant mechanisms, a condition of oxidative stress sets in, responsible for the degradation of cellular components.

The cells of the nervous system and the ocular retina are particularly sensitive to the cellular oxidation process leading to premature aging.

Cognitive dysfunction is one of the pathologies that affect geriatric dogs and cats, resulting in a sequence of degenerative changes in the brain. It is characterized by behavioral changes resulting from decreased cognitive ability and learned behavior.

Due to their high oxygen consumption and exposure to light, retinal cells are especially susceptible to damage induced by oxidative stress which, in turn, can lead to the death of photoreceptors (rods and cones) in the retina.

Cognitive function and Vision support

Vitamin C and E - Essential in controlling oxygen free radicals. Vitamin C has the regenerative effect of vitamin E, reducing the vitamin E radicals formed when vitamin E scavenges other oxygen radicals.
Selenium, Zinc and Biotin essential for reducing the harmful effects caused by free oxygen radicals.

L-Carnitine (68% Carnitine) - L-Carnitine improves cellular transport of fatty acids as well as improves mitochondrial activity.

Melofeed - A standardized compound rich in primary antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase and catalase).

DHA extract (minimum 17% DHA) - Essential fatty acids are not synthesized by the body. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is a crucial omega-3 in inflammatory and degenerative processes of the nervous system. It may also protect retinal cells in certain types of cataracts and degenerative diseases.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae - Contains Mannanoligosaccharides, which stimulate the immune response. Extract rich in B vitamins, essential for the correct functioning and maturation of red blood cells.

Grape Extract (> 2500 ppm t-resveratrol) - Resveratrol is a polyphenol and may act as an antioxidant. Its role as a stimulant of immune function in dogs has also been demonstrated.

Camellia sinensis (98% polyphenols) - Extract rich in polyphenols, which act as powerful antioxidants, is associated with reduced inflammation and improved memory, cognition and learning.

Dunaliella salina (Beta-carotene 10%) - Studies show that it exerts a strong protection of the cornea against the oxidative damage induced by UVB radiation, increasing the activity of the antioxidant enzyme and inhibiting lipid peroxidation.

Ginkgo biloba (24% ginkgosides) - Ginkgo leaf extract contains terpene lactones (ginkgolides) and flavonoids (quercetin, campherol) and have been shown to have a positive effect on peripheral and cerebral blood circulation.

Phosphatyldylserine - Phosphatidylserine contributes to the fluidity of neuronal membranes, improving transmembrane transport and the function of ion channels, leading to increased release of neurotransmitters and expression of some receptors.
