FolicVet Tablets - Folic Acid for Dogs and Cats | NewPet

FolicVet® is a food for dogs and cats designed to help dogs with increased folate needs.

Studies in pregnant dogs reveal that dietary supplementation in the first 30 days of pregnancy with Folic Acid reduces the likelihood of cleft palate and cleft palate occurrence by 3 to 4 times.
offspring.

FolicVet Tablets is a complementary food based on Vitamin B9, recommended for dogs and cats during pregnancy, but also in cases of chronic intestinal problems, where absorption problems may occur.

One FolicVet® tablet provides 10 mg of folic acid, meeting the needs of pregnant dogs. It is also indicated in cases of increased folate requirements.

Folic acid, or vitamin B9, is a water-soluble vitamin necessary for DNA and RNA synthesis and plays an important role in cell division, erythropoiesis, and several processes involving the nervous system. Folic acid is absorbed in the intestine (particularly in the first part of the small intestine) and stored in the liver.

Due to the fundamental role folic acid plays in numerous physiological processes and its limited hepatic storage, deficiencies can develop rapidly in dogs and cats. Deficiency can occur due to inadequate dietary intake of folic acid or the presence of conditions that can reduce its absorption, increase its utilization, or increase its excretion.
