Herpless Plus Palatable Powder | NewPet

Herpless plus is a complementary food, in palatable powder, suitable for cats, containing L-lysine and colostrum.
Herpless plus is indicated as an adjuvant during the treatment of feline herpesvirus (FHV-1) infections in cats of any age. It can be used as early as possible, in combination with specific treatments, in kittens with clinical manifestations of FHV-1 infection.

Herpless Plus interferes with viral replication, oral administration of L-Lysine, lactoferrin and colostrum interferes with the replicative capacity of the herpesvirus, reducing the occurrence and intensity of symptoms.

Herpless Plus in Immunomodulation, an adequate immune response is necessary to improve clinical symptoms, control bacterial over-infections (Bordetella bronchiseptica, Chlamidophyla felis, Mycoplasma felis) and limit viral replication in latency sites.

- Feline herpesvirus (FHV-1) is one of the most important causes of respiratory and ocular diseases in cats.
- After clinical improvement, around 80% of cats remain carriers of the virus in a latent phase, located in the trigeminal ganglion, cornea and turbinates.
- Reactivation occurs in 45% of cats with latent viral infection, as a result of stress, with the reappearance of clinical symptoms.

Oral administration of L-Lysine, lactoferrin and colostrum interferes with the replicative capacity of the herpesvirus, reducing the occurrence and intensity of symptoms.

L-Lysine

Administration of L-Lysine improves symptoms associated with FHV 1 infection and the reactivation of latent infections.
The recommended dose of L-lysine is 500 mg twice daily, and it is advisable to administer it as early as possible in acute infections or before stressful events.
The suppression of viral replication after oral administration of L-lysine can be explained by three mechanisms:
1 - Replaces arginine in the synthesis of viral proteins, acting as an antimetabolite.
2 - Competitively inhibits the aginine transport system.
3 - Induces the activity of arginase, an enzyme that causes the catabolic degradation of arginine.

Lactoferrin
It inhibits viral replication of feline (FHV-1), human (HSV-1), and canine (CHV) herpesviruses, modifying viral adhesion and penetration into cells. Its antiviral action occurs through increased macrophage phagocytosis and interference with Toll-like receptors activated during viral infection.

Bovine Colostrum
It contains a high concentration of bioactive compounds, particularly immunoglobulins, growth factors, enzymes (lactoperoxidase, lysozyme), and lactoferrin. Its effects have been proven, especially against viral infections, in humans, dogs, cats, horses, and other animal species. The bovine colostrum used in Herpless Plus has a minimum immunoglobulin G content of 25%.

An adequate immune response is necessary to improve clinical symptoms, control bacterial superinfections (Bordetella bronchiseptica, Chlamidophyla felis, Mycoplasma felis) and limit viral replication in latency sites.

Zinc
Zinc is a trace element that plays a fundamental role in regulating the innate and adaptive immune system, maintaining the proper balance between pro- and anti-inflammatory effects through different mechanisms and reducing oxidative stress.
Its effectiveness has been proven, particularly in respiratory infections of viral origin, both in prevention and treatment.

The effects of zinc have been studied, in particular, on the human herpesviruses HSV-1 and HSV-2, where it presents inhibitory effects on almost all vital phases of the virus life cycle.

Postbiotics from Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Postbiotics are mixtures of inactivated microorganisms and/or their components capable of providing various beneficial effects to the body.
