The outcome of canine leishmaniasis (CanL) due to Leishmania infantum is linked to the dog's immune response (Toepp and Petersen, 2020). From an immunological perspective, a predominant Th1 (cellular) immune response correlates with enhanced immunity and improved resistance to disease (Toepp and Petersen, 2020).
Conversely, disease progression has been associated with a predominance of the Th2 (humoral) immune response (Toepp and Petersen, 2020). Dogs able to control the disease typically exhibit a weak humoral immune response and a robust cellular immune response, characterized by low parasite load. In contrast, clinically affected dogs demonstrate a prevalent Th2 immune response and a reduced Th1 response.

In this context, the intervention capable of increasing the host's innate cellular immune response appeared to offer a new approach to deal with the control of L. infantum infection (Baxarias et al., 2019).

Usage advice

1 tablet of LeisIMMUNE BOOST for every 10 kg of body weight daily

Oral administration of LeisIMMUNE BOOST for a period of 6 months was shown to be effective in maintaining a stable clinical picture and improving laboratory parameters in dogs serologically positive for L. infantum.
