Catney One is a lanthanum carbonate-based phosphorus chelator for the treatment of hyperphosphatemia in cats with CKD.

Lanthanum carbonate octahydrate has been approved as a phosphorus chelator to reduce renal load.

The Importance of Phosphorus Chelation in Cats with CKD
Using phosphorus chelators, such as lanthanum carbonate, to reduce phosphorus may help prolong the life of cats with CKD.

Lanthanum carbonate:
It is recommended by IRIS since IRIS Stage II.(10)

Benefits:
Catney One has a triple effect:
1 PROMOTES RENAL FUNCTION IN CKD - Phosphorus bound to Lanthanum Carbonate is eliminated in the feces, preventing its excretion by the kidneys.(1)
2 CHELATES PHOSPHORUS FROM THE ACID ENVIRONMENT OF THE STOMACH - Lanthanum carbonate is 100% effective in both acidic environments (stomach) and basic and neutral environments (intestines).(2) Phosphorus is absorbed primarily in the small intestine. Early chelation of phosphorus prevents its absorption.(1) The products
currently used, especially those based on calcium carbonate, bind only a small percentage of phosphorus in an acidic medium(1) and are also inferior to lanthanum carbonate in their phosphorus chelating capacity.(1,2)
3 HELP CORRECT ELECTROLYTE IMBALANCE - Using calcium carbonate to chelate phosphorus can lead to hypercalcemia, a disease
adynamic bone, vascular and soft tissue calcification.(1,3) Lanthanum carbonate-based phosphorus chelators were developed for human and veterinary use in order to avoid these side effects.(1,3)

Catney One contains Lanthanum Carbonate
